Hands during the city walk

Welcome to a city walk on Katarinaberget, where you will discover new alleys and details you previously missed. Here you will hear stories about how the area grew after a violent fire in 1723, which destroyed much of the area around the church. New residential buildings and factory premises were built up and a completely new urban environment emerged.

Listen to stories about Mosebacke Square and how it got its name, as well as about Märta Helena Reenstierna, aka Årstafrun, who described the narrow streets and large garbage mountains in the area. You will also hear stories about the Roddarmadams and the horrific years of cholera in the 19th century.

This city walk is for those who love Södermalm and want to discover more of its fascinating history.

Join us on a journey through time and experience the stories of the era of brave women and brave men who fought to survive and build a better future.
