For an hour you will walk along cobbled streets and historic buildings while the guide will tell you about how Christmas was celebrated in the Viking Age, why we celebrate Lucia and how the Christmas manger became part of the Christmas celebrations.
As winter darkness descends over Stockholm, the glow of the lanterns and the Christmas decorations create a special atmosphere. The hike ends with homemade non-alcoholic mulled wine and organic gingerbread — a cozy way to experience the Christmas spirit in Stockholm together with family or friends.

Discover the Old Town when the Christmas spirit is at its highest
The walk begins at Evert Taube's statue in Järntorget. From here you will accompany the guide through the Old Town's historic quarter, where old buildings, cobbled streets and Christmas lights create an atmospheric setting.
While you walk, you will hear about how Christmas was celebrated in the past. What did Christmas celebrations look like in the Viking Age? Where do our traditions around Lucia and the Christmas manger come from? And how have the customs of different times shaped the Christmas we celebrate today?
The guide weaves together stories of the history of Christmas with the places you pass. Along the way you will also discover details of the old buildings of the Old Town that are easy to miss when just walking past.
Finish with hot mulled wine and gingerbreads
After about an hour of walking, the hike ends near Järntorget.
