**A unique opportunity to get to know one of Sweden's greatest thinkers and scientists and his life in Uppsala. **
Join us on a fascinating city walk through Uppsala in the footsteps of one of Sweden's most enigmatic and internationally influential thinkers — Emanuel Swedenborg. It is none other than the popular city guide Peter Frisk who takes you on a historical journey.
Theologian, scientist, mystic and Riksdag man, but in Sweden often strangely forgotten. The walk takes you from his growing up environment at Stora Torget to the university's learning world and on to the Cathedral where he rests today. For about two hours, the story of dreams, angels and science is woven together with Uppsala's academic history. A walk about a man whose life stretched between the rational and the spiritual, as well as about the city that shaped him.

**What do you get to experience during the city walk? **
The walk starts at Stora Torget, where Swedenborg grew up in an environment characterized by learning and theology. Already at the age of eleven, he began studying at Uppsala University and immersed himself in mathematics, astronomy, science, medicine, languages and philosophy. Here he encountered ideas from thinkers such as Descartes, Leibniz, and Wolff — influences that came to characterize his entire life.
Participants will follow the story of how his father, Jesper Swedberg, acted as a professor of theology and how Uppsala became both the family's home and an intellectual breeding ground. It is also told of how Swedenborg was offered a professorship in mathematics in 1724 — an offer he turned down — as well as about his election to the Royal Swedish Science Society.
The walk ends at Uppsala Cathedral, where his remains today rest after being brought back from London. Here the sack is tied around a life that began in Uppsala's academic quarter and ended in the same city — a symbolic circle that envelops his entire biography.
The tour is led by Peter Frisk, who previously arranged treks in the footsteps of Swedenborg in Stockholm and now brings the story to Swedenborgs Uppsala.
